What happens to the quality during conversion
The format, resolution and file size are related, but responsible for different properties of the image.
JPEG and lossy compression
When saving a JPEG, some of the information is discarded. Our converter uses 92% quality, but this does not mean an exact copy of the original and does not guarantee that changes will not be noticeable on each picture.
PNG and pixel saving
PNG adds no loss due to compression after decoding. But JPEG to PNG translation will not restore the lost details, and HDR or color space conversion can affect the image regardless of compression.
File resolution and weight
A 4032 × 3024 photo can occupy a different volume in HEIC, JPEG and PNG. A larger file does not necessarily contain more details. The converter preserves the dimensions of regular images, but does not provide a tool for sharpening or precise compression to a given weight.
PDF and metadata
PDF pages are rendered up to 144 dpi with a limit of 4096 pixels on the side and 16 MP. This is a separate process, not the extraction of the original image. EXIF and GPS are not transferred to new photos.
